This Privacy Policy explains how Snappy ("we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Snappy mobile application and related services (the "Service").
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Account information: such as your name, username, email address, and password when you register.
- Profile and content: information and content you add to your profile or submit within the Service, including friend connections and requests.
- Usage data: information about how you interact with the Service, such as device type, log data, and crash reports.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service;
- Authenticate your account and keep it secure;
- Enable features such as friend requests and search;
- Communicate with you about the Service; and
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or technical issues.
3. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers who help us operate the Service (such as hosting and infrastructure providers), or when required by law.
4. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, it is deactivated immediately - hidden from other users and removed from your chats - but kept in a recoverable state for 7 days in case you change your mind, either by logging back in or using the link in the confirmation email. After that period, your account and all associated data, including messages, are permanently deleted.
5. Your Choices
You can access and update your account information within the app. You may also contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data.
6. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Why we only support passkeys: Snappy signs you in with passkeys instead of passwords or third-party logins like "Sign in with Google." Passwords and Google accounts get phished every day - a fake login page can trick you into typing your credentials straight to an attacker. A passkey is tied to your device and the real Snappy domain, so it simply can't be entered into a lookalike site, making this kind of spoofing far less likely to succeed.
7. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date above.
